As a general surgeon, I am interested in and enjoy taking care of a wide variety of problems, including breast cancer and breast-related problems, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, thyroid surgery, and acute care surgery. General surgery is the oldest specialty field of surgery. At one time, all surgeries done in hospitals was performed by general surgeons. To me, being a general surgeon is both an honor and a privilege.
