Dr. Adam Freedhand

Dr. Adam Freedhand, a native of Rockaway Beach, New York, earned his undergraduate degree in biology and pre-medicine from Yale University and his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. He completed an internship in surgery and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a fellowship in adult reconstruction and sports medicine at the Insall Scott Kelly Institute at Beth Israel North in New York City. Dr. Freedhand, who has been in practice since 1987, is board certified in orthopedic surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. His primary clinical interests are anterior-approach total hip replacement, hip resurfacing, computer-assisted hip replacement, MAKOplasty® (robotic-assisted knee replacement), minimally invasive total knee replacement, arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. As an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), Dr. Freedhand is involved in resident and postgraduate physician education, surgical training and instrument design used in minimally invasive joint replacement procedures of the hip and knee. A former flatwater kayak racer, Dr. Freedhand was involved in caring for multiple professional teams, including the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets and New York Liberty, during his fellowship training.
