Dr. Alexander Dru is a neurosurgeon with the Orlando Health Spine Center, a multidisciplinary collaboration between Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Dru’s Training Dr. Dru earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at the University of San Diego, graduating summa cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated top of his class. Dr. Dru completed a neurological surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he served as chief resident in his final year. After his residency training, Dr. Dru completed a specialized one-year CAST-accredited fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at The Semmes-Murphey Clinic. He completed a research fellowship evaluating next-generation intraoperative brain tumor imaging systems to improve surgical outcomes at the Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. About Dr. Dru Dr. Dru is a member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and American Association of Neurological Surgeons. His clinical research focuses on the development of mineral-organic materials to help with spinal fusion. Dr. Dru’s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. He also has written multiple book chapters on the brain and spine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, golf, skiing and saltwater fishing.
