Overview
After graduating from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree in biology, Dr. Amanda Chavez earned her medical degree at UT Health San Antonio Medical School, where she completed her residency in pediatrics. Dr. Chavez is a board-certified pediatrician who also holds certificates in basic life support and pediatric life support. She sees patients up to age 18. She treats asthma, ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder), upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal infections and other common pediatric conditions. Her primary clinical interests are preventative medicine and developmental medicine. Her approach to care is family-based and team-oriented. She wants to get parents involved, so together they can come up with the best plan for a child. An advocate of yearly well-child check-ups, she believes these visits give her an opportunity to focus on the child’s growth and development and talk about the exciting milestones to look forward to in the coming year. Dr. Chavez wants her patients and families to see her as kind, competent, understanding and empathetic. Her greatest professional satisfaction comes from seeing not only her patients, but also their families grow and develop through the years. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Texas Pediatric Society and Texas Medical Association.
