Overview
Dr. Amber Luong earned her medical and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas through the National Institutes for Health-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program. She obtained her PhD under Nobel laureates Drs. Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein for the identification and biochemical characterization of a novel human enzyme, acetyl coA synthetase. She completed her residency training at UT Southwestern and rhinology fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic. Board certified in otorhinolaryngology, Dr. Luong’s clinical interests include medical and surgical management of refractory chronic rhinosinusitis, sinonasal tumors, cerebrospinal fluid leak repairs, and endoscopic orbital and dacryocystorhinostomy surgery. Dr. Luong serves as an assistant professor of otorhinolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School with joint appointment in the MD Anderson Cancer Center Department of Immunology. She has co-authored more than 10 articles and book chapters. Her primary research interest focuses on understanding the pathophysiology of allergic fungal rhinosinusitis (AFRS) as a model for studying the local immune response of the paranasal sinuses.
