He also co-leads the Outreach, Recruitment and Education Core for theWisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Centerand leads the Public Health Pillar for theWisconsin Alzheimer's Institute.While Dr. Walaszek is skilled in managing a wide range of mental health issues, his primary clinical interest is helping people with dementia, especially those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, apathy, agitation, delusions, hallucinations and other associated conditions (collectively referred to as behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, or BPSD).Dr. Walaszek combines evidence-based practice with patients' preferences, goals and values. In this way, he offers treatments that alleviate suffering, promote quality of life and maintain patients’ independence and dignity.In his free time, Dr. Walaszek enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, listening to music and biking.I love science and I love talking. Mental health psychiatry is a perfect blend of those two things. I get to know people, listen to their stories and help them through a difficult part of their lives.
