George B. Mychaliska, M.D. is the Robert Bartlett, MD Collegiate Professor of Pediatric Surgery and a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan. He earned his Medical Degree and Master’s of Science from the Joint Medical Program at the University of California at San Francisco and Berkeley. He completed his General Surgery residency and Fetal Surgery fellowship at UCSF. Dr. Mychaliska completed his Pediatric Surgery fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. She received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and then completed her general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. During her general surgery training, she completed an NIH-sponsored Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at UNC. Dr. Speck completed her Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and then joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Due to her interest in clinical outcomes research, she obtained her master’s degree in clinical research design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan in 2017.Dr. Speck is a Fellow in the American Pediatric Surgical Association (APSA) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). She is a member of the Association of Women Surgeons (AWS), the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS), the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group (IPEG), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). At the University of Michigan, she is a member of the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation.Clinical Specialization:Dr. Speck’s surgical practice encompasses all areas of general and thoracic pediatric surgery with a focus on minimally invasive surgery. As the Director of Pediatric Colorectal Surgery, she has a particular interest in colorectal diseases, including anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung disease, and differences of sex differentiation (DSD).
