
Overview
Cesar Avalos, MD, is a fellowship-trained rheumatologist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he has clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating arthritis and other diseases of the joints, muscles, and bones, including those that are inflammatory and autoimmune in nature. A compassionate caregiver, Dr. Avalos believes in providing patient-centered care, educating and clearly explaining the patient’s condition and the recommended treatment plan.After earning his medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica, West Indies, Dr. Avalos performed an internal medicine residency at New York Medical College at St. Joseph’s Health, Paterson, NJ, where he earned the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. He then received additional specialized training completing a rheumatology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn, NY. Prior to Ross University, Dr. Avalos completed a doctor of podiatric medicine degree at New York College of Podiatric Medicine in NYC.The author of several articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed medical journals, Dr. Avalos has presented research and posters at national conferences. He has also volunteered at community health fairs and as part of the NYC Medical Reserve Corps responding to disasters, emergencies and public health events.Dr. Avalos served as an internal medicine hospitalist at Morristown Medical Center prior to joining Atlantic Medical Group Rheumatology. He is bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Avalos is a member of the American College of Rheumatology, American Board of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and the American Podiatric Medical Association. He is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
