Overview
Dr. Claps earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Pinnacle Health. After residency, Dr. Claps performed one year of subspecialized fellowship training at Wake Forest University Baptist Health in Adult Total Joint Reconstruction.
Dr. Claps' clinical expertise includes anterior approach hip replacement, total knee replacement, minimally invasive joint replacement and outpatient and rapid recovery joint replacement surgery. He is an active member in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Claps has published research in numerous orthopedic journals and presented research at national orthopedic conferences about joint replacement surgery.
In his spare time, Dr Claps enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and their son Charlie. He also enjoys golf, exercise and skiing. Dr. Claps is accepting new patients at this time and welcomes most major insurance plans.
