
Overview
As a radiation oncologist, Charles Lee, MD, specializes in treating a variety of malignant cancers, including brain, head and neck, lung, breast, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract and skin. He also provides care for people with benign tumors and conditions.|Dr. Lee has clinical expertise in numerous types of radiation therapy, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), volumetric arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), TomoTherapy, electron beam therapy and brachytherapy.|His interest extends beyond treating cancers to reducing adverse side effects from radiation therapy. He has published multiple studies on the topic and uses the latest research to help improve his patients’ quality of life long after treatment.|Dr. Lee enjoys collaborating with patients and their diverse care teams. “I pursued a career in radiation oncology because I’m passionate about the intersection of medicine and technology, working in a multidisciplinary team and developing life-long relationships with patients,” he says.|Dr. Lee cares deeply about his community. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, he organized a drive to collect homemade masks, eye shields and other personal protection equipment, which were then distributed to nearby hospitals and providers.|Dr. Lee graduated from medical school in the top quartile of his class and was a chief resident during his residency training at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. He is an active member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology and a review editor for a scientific journal.|In his spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with his wife and pets and snowboarding, mountain biking and hiking in northeastern Pennsylvania. He also enjoys fixing cars, building furniture and listening to fantasy football podcasts.
