Overview
Dr. Christopher Lee is a cardiologist who cares for patients with heart conditions, particularly those with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (heart muscle thickening that can interfere with the heart's ability to function efficiently). He has advanced training in echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) and in advanced cardiac imaging techniques (such as cardiac MRI and CT). Lee's research focuses on using novel methods to assess cardiac function and detecting heart disease early in its course. He is interested in an echocardiographic imaging technique called strain imaging, which can be used as an additive tool to reveal cardiac dysfunction that's harder to detect. He is also involved in developing new treatments for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Lee earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Southern California. He completed a fellowship in general cardiology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and a fellowship in advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging at UCSF. He is a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.
