Overview
Elizabeth Carreño Rijo, MD, MPH, is a board-certified adolescent medicine physician with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. She cares for children between the ages of 11 and 25 and helps them transition from pediatric to adult care. Dr. Carreño Rijo has a particular interest in reproductive health, eating disorders and promoting healthy decision-making and positive lifestyle choices. After earning her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Carreño Rijo completed a residency and internship in pediatrics at Lincoln Memorial and Mental Health Center in Bronx, New York. She then spent four years working as a general pediatrician at Pediatrics 2000, a federally funded clinic for the underserved in the heart of Harlem. With a desire to increase her proficiency in reproductive care, Dr. Carreño Rijo went on to complete a fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York. While there, she also earned a master’s degree in public health (MPH). In addition to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Carreño Rijo is a member of the American Medical Association and Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. She is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
