Elizabeth Peterson, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatrician and a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.She cares for patients from birth through young adulthood.Dr. Peterson provides well visits with attention to development, nutrition, safety and healthy habits. She also sees patients for follow up of common long-term concerns such as headaches or constipation. She has a special interest in ADHD and mental health and she supports young people as they work toward success in school and community activities. She also helps children with complex medical needs by coordinating care among specialists, school teams, therapists and community resources. Dr. Peterson cares for children and families in the LGBTQIA+ community and helps them find supportive environments for healthy growth.Dr. Peterson enjoys seeing the smiles and excitement when children reach their goals or overcome a challenge. She cares for the whole child, looking not only at medical concerns but also at how a child is doing at home, at school, in the community and with their mental health. She values scientific advances, including vaccines and specialist care, to help provide the best possible care.Outside of work, Dr. Peterson enjoys playing with her dog and two cats, traveling and reading. She is active in the American Academy of Pediatrics, including leadership in the Wisconsin chapter and service on national committees.
