
Overview
Emma Klosterman, M.D. completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame in Biology with a minor in Science, Technology, and Values. She furthered her training at Loyola University Chicago with a masters degree in Medical Science. She completed medical school at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Klosterman pursued sub-specialty training at the University of Virginia as a fellow in Sports Medicine. At the University of Virginia, she trained in a broad scope of conservative to operative interventions. Dr. Klosterman specializes in treatments of the shoulder, knee, and other sports-related injuries. Her goal is to guide patients through a treatment plan that best aligns with their goals in returning to activities that they enjoy. Dr. Biermann serves as Director of the Musculoskeletal Oncology Program at the University of Michigan. Her clinical interests include malignant and benign tumors of soft tissue and bone, both primary and metastatic. Her practice includes both adults and children. Dr. Biermann chairs the Multidisciplinary Sarcoma Tumor Board, a collaborative cancer center group including medical and pediatric oncologists, pathologist, diagnostic radiologists, and radiation therapists. Dr. Biermann is the University of Michigan Medical Director for the Sarcoma Program and the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program Director.
