Dr. Eric F. Berkman earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport where he was named the outstanding resident of the year. He then completed his spine and trauma fellowship in Basel, Switzerland. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Berkman has been in practice since 1996. He specializes in treating various orthopedic conditions of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Berkman’s patient philosophy is to get to know his patients and work with them to solve their problems. He offers comprehensive treatment and the utmost care to patients 13 years and older. His aim is to restore freedom of movement and relieve the pain from diseased or degenerated joints. The author of a number of medical articles, Dr. Berkman was voted by his peers as one of Houston’s Top Docs in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 by H-Texas Magazine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Society, Houston Orthopaedic Society, Texas Medical Association and Harris County Medical Association. He currently serves as an associate professor of orthopedics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston. Dr. Berkman and his wife have two children. He enjoys playing golf, hunting and fishing in his free time.

Dr. Eric Klineberg received his undergraduate degree from Rice University and then a master’s degree in zoology and neural networks at the University of Maryland, before earning his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington Medical System in Seattle then a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Klineberg is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His primary clinical interests include spinal degeneration, deformity, tumor and fracture; adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery; and cervical compression and deformity. Dr. Klineberg is committed to excellence in surgical care with an emphasis on communication, compassion and empathy. He strives to treat each patient as he would like himself or a family member to be treated. A professor and vice chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Klineberg serves as Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery and holds the Milton “Chip” Routt Endowed Chair of Spinal Surgery. His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
