Overview
Dr. Evan Meeks earned his medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he also did his residency in orthopedics. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Meeks, who has been in practice since 2008, is board certified in orthopedic surgery. He specializes in sports medicine with an emphasis on arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques to treat injuries of the shoulder, hip and knee. His clinical interests include general orthopedic surgery; sports medicine; arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery; orthopedic trauma and fracture care; joint replacement of the shoulder, hip and knee; and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. A former college athlete, Dr. Meeks approaches sports injuries from the perspective of both physician and athlete. During his training he worked with Houston-area professional and college teams, including the Texans, Rockets, Astros, Dynamo and the University of Houston athletic program. He currently serves as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School.

His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
