Fatima G. Wilder

Overview

Dr. Wilder is a member of various societies, including the Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS), the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), the Association of Black Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons (ABCTS) and Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS). Her research interests include health care disparities, investigating barriers to access to care and optimizing the use of lung cancer screening. She is additionally interested in better understanding the pathophysiology of lung cancer in younger patients, as well as early markers of metastatic lung cancer. She looks forward to working in a collaborative way to meet the needs of our patients while advancing the field of thoracic surgery. Dr. Wilder graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and from Pace University with a Master of Science in Teaching. She completed the Ohio State University College of Medicine Medical Careers Pathway Post Baccalaureate Program (MEDPATH) and went on to complete her medical school training at OSU. Her general surgery residency began at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and was completed at UCSF Fresno. She was a surgical oncology research fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and completed a cardiothoracic surgery clinical fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Dr. Wilder is certified by the American Board of Surgery and she is currently getting her Master of Public Health degree through Harvard University, Chan School of Public Health.
