Overview
In school, I developed a strong interest for diabetes and had an opportunity to work with some amazing doctors. I enjoy working with people with chronic illness, helping them cope and developing treatment plans that work well for their lives. Diabetes care is my passion and working with this patient population gives me so much joy. I always take time to get to know my patients, listening and striving to understand their particular situations. My highest priority is helping patients figure out regimens that give them a sense of control so they can go on living as normally as possible. I grew up playing hockey and played for the University of Minnesota. Now I enjoy watching my three kids play hockey, among other sports. We love spending time together outdoors; they truly make life fun.

I am a research clinician at International Diabetes Center (IDC). I work with patients participating in research studies related to type 1 and type 2 diabetes and new diabetes technology. For more information about the many studies offered through IDC, please call 952-993-3500. Being involved in diabetes research can help individuals better manage their diabetes or may help the next generation of people with diabetes. As Executive Director of the IDC, I also participate in training professionals in the US and internationally and publishing diabetes educational materials for patients and professionals. Translating new research findings into improvements in diabetes care is my major professional focus. We are finding that the best approach to improve care is by working as a team and to focus on the needs of each patient. My outreach diabetes clinic in Willmar Minnesota keeps me in clinical practice. My two granddaughters keep me active, amazed and inspired.
