Affiliated with the Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Institute at the Texas Medical Center, Dr. Hiral Patel is fellowship trained in chronic pain management and board eligible in anesthesiology. Her areas of expertise include management of both cancer and non-cancer pain and all aspects of interventional pain management. A native Houstonian, Dr. Patel earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology with emphasis in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and completed residency training in anesthesiology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth, where she was Clinic Resident of the Year. Subsequently she completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in chronic pain management at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She has been recognized with numerous academic and research awards and is an active community volunteer. Dr. Patel is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati. Dr. Patel is experienced in all aspects of interventional pain medicine, including: Vertebral augmentation by kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty Spinal cord stimulation trials and implants Epidural steroid injections through interlaminar, transforaminal and caudal approaches Facet joint and medial branch blocks Sacroiliac joint injections Radiofrequency ablation Diagnostic sympathetic and neurolytic blocks Peripheral joint injections Botox® and trigger point injections Occipital nerve injections Intercostal nerve injections Collaboration with Referring Physicians Mischer Neuroscience Associates engages referring physicians in the care of their patients, keeping them informed about patient progress throughout the evaluation and treatment process. After a patient’s treatment, referring physicians receive a summary and a plan for follow-up, and physicians affiliated with Mischer Neuroscience Associates encourage continued communication about each patient.

Dr. Jamal “Jamie” Hasoon earned an undergraduate degree in medical humanities at Baylor University in Waco and his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He then completed a fellowship in interventional pain management in Boston at Harvard Medical School-Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he was named Outstanding Pain Fellow of the Year. Dr. Hasoon, who has been in practice since 2015, is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain management. His special clinical interests are minimally invasive therapies for spinal stenosis, compression fractures, peripheral nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation. His practice philosophy centers on a personalized and multidisciplinary approach to pain management that reduces his patients’ level of pain while improving their quality of life. Patients describe him as a professional and caring physician who listens, doesn’t rush them through appointments and explains conditions and answers questions in understandable terms. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Hasoon has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals on topics, including migraine headaches, pelvic pain, low back pain, peripheral nerve stimulation and spinal cord stimulation therapy. He is director of the pain fellowship program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Hasoon is a member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, North American Neuromodulation Society, American Society of Anesthesiology and Texas Society of Anesthesiology.
