Dr. Jaime A. Carvajal

Dr. Jaime Carvajal is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. He specializes in joint reconstruction surgery, including: Robotic knee and hip replacement Partial knee replacement Anterior hip replacement Rapid recovery protocols Outpatient joint replacement surgery Revision knee and hip replacement Dr. Carvajal considers each of his patients a friend and strives to provide timely treatment and easy access to care. Dr. Carvajal’s Training Dr. Carvajal received his medical training at Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud in Medellín, Colombia. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency and a clinical research fellowship at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. Dr. Carvajal completed a second fellowship in joint reconstruction at the University of Alberta in Canada. He is certified in CORI hip and knee robotic surgery. About Dr. Carvajal Dr. Carvajal is board certified in orthopedic surgery, subspecializing in joint reconstruction, by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. His other professional memberships include the Florida Orthopedics Society and Florida Medical Association. Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Carvajal held an academic appointment as an associate professor in the joint arthroplasty division of the orthopedics department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for nine years. He also served as medical director of orthopedic elective surgery at Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami. He previously served as an attending surgeon for joint replacement at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. With his subspecialty in joint replacement surgery, Dr. Carvajal is passionate about adopting technology in orthopedic surgeries to return the function and alleviate the pain of patients suffering from hip or knee arthritis. His research has appeared extensively in peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he trains national and international orthopedic surgeons in robotic joint replacement surgery. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, golf, pickleball and traveling. Dr. Carvajal is fluent in English and Spanish.
