Dr. Jaime Carvajal is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. Before joining Orlando Health, Dr. Carvajal held an academic appointment as an associate professor in the joint arthroplasty division of the orthopedics department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for nine years. He also served as medical director of orthopedic elective surgery at Jackson South Community Hospital in Miami. He previously served as an attending surgeon for joint replacement at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. With his subspecialty in joint replacement surgery, Dr. Carvajal is passionate about adopting technology in orthopedic surgeries to return the function and alleviate the pain of patients suffering from hip or knee arthritis. His research has appeared extensively in peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and he trains national and international orthopedic surgeons in robotic joint replacement surgery. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, golf, pickleball and traveling. Dr. Carvajal is fluent in English and Spanish.

He also was the program director for the Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and the principal investigator for several multi-center trials funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Recognized as an international expert, Dr. Levy has chaired hundreds of symposia and instructional course lectures on complex knee and hip injuries. He is a consultant for the NBA and NHL Players Associations, a past team physician for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and is currently the chief medical officer for the United Football League’s (UFL) Orlando Storm. Dr. Levy is a reviewer and editorial board member for numerous medical journals, and he has published more than 350 papers in scientific literature. He lectures extensively nationally and internationally and has been named one of the nation’s top doctors multiple times by Castle Connolly.
