Overview
I believe listening with compassion and empathy are critical components of excellent medical care. Patients know they can really talk to me and that I hear them. I approach my patients with a very relaxed style. I like to laugh and get to know each person because I want them to feel comfortable. That’s important because my profession and specialty is all about developing caring, longterm relationships and being an advocate for patients. I am honored that people welcome me into their lives. I was drawn to family medicine because I want to make a connection with my patients and treat them as whole persons and not just as their diagnoses. I have always practiced obstetrics because I treasure the special relationships and bonds it creates with my patients. I also served as a physician in the United States Navy. My special interest in treating patients with addictions led to my specialty training and additional board certification in that area. I believe in looking past the biases that so many people face and instead I look forward to who they can become.
