I chose the field of psychiatry because I love listening to people's stories. I am naturally empathetic and compassionate, and as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse, I am afforded extra time in appointments to listen to my patients' life stories. Together, we interpret their meaning and find ways to move toward health and well-being. My approach to mental health is holistic. We may find that the answer is with a more medical approach, like medications, or with a more natural method, like supplementation. When I am not working, I am spending time with my husband, three daughters, two dogs and/or one cat. I love to laugh and eat good food.
