Overview
After working as a registered nurse on the Oncology Floor at Johnson City Medical Center for eight years, I decided to become a nurse practitioner and continue to focus on oncology. Oncology healthcare providers get to meet so many inspiring people, and it is an area of medicine that is constantly developing new and exciting treatment opportunities. My career in medicine was influenced by a good friend who went to nursing school and helped me to imagine it as a possibility for myself. My personal philosophy for treating patients is to offer a compassionate approach as well as the understanding they need. I try to remember that this process is usually confusing and scary for our patients, especially when they first begin their treatment. I was born and raised in Greene County, Tennessee, and have lived in East Tennessee practically my entire life. I am fortunate to have a great family and continue to be blessed in countless ways by all my family members. In order to relax, I love to take a good long hike on a pretty day. Reading a great big book, traveling near and far, eating a good meal or sharing a belly laugh with a kindred spirit are the amongst the many other things I enjoy in life.
