Dr. Kevin Wheeler

Dr. Kevin Wheeler earned an undergraduate degree in zoology from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where he completed his residency in general surgery. Dr. Wheeler is a board-certified surgeon who sees patients referred from primary care providers and specialists for cancer, gastrointestinal-abdominal, breast and outpatient surgeries. His primary clinical interests are general surgical problems such as hernias, gall bladders, cancer, breast and endocrine conditions. He chose general surgery as his specialty because it allows him to treat the whole patient, not just the surgical problem. This approach keeps Dr. Wheeler in close communication with each patient’s primary care provider and referring specialist, so the team can make sure the whole patient, not just the condition that requires surgery, is being taken care of. He wants his patients to see him as a caring physician and excellent surgeon who takes care of their medical problems, pays attention to their needs and gets them back on the road to health. His greatest professional satisfaction comes from being in the operating room, seeing people get better immediately and making a difference in their lives. Dr. Wheeler is a member of the American Society of General Surgeons, Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Southwestern Surgical Congress, Texas Medical Association and Harris County Medical Society.
