Dr. McCarty is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with additional board certification in orthopedic sports medicine. He specializes in the treatment of both routine and complex shoulder and elbow injuries. His surgical expertise includes procedures to treat rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, fractures around the shoulder and elbow, arthritis of the shoulder and elbow and a variety of other issues. Dr. McCarty received his orthopedic residency training at Harvard and sports medicine fellowship at Rush and his MBA at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. He served as orthopedic Team Physician for the Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball team from 2005 to 2018. He has been recognized as a “Top Doc” by Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine for eight years. He has over 30 peer-reviewed research publications and has authored a dozen book chapters on shoulder and sports medicine topics.
