Dr. Leiv Takle

Dr. Carolyn Chen grew up in Houston, where she attended Bellaire High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Stanford University and her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara, Calif., and an ophthalmology residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center-Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. She also completed a surgical fellowship in vitreoretinal disease at Tufts Medical Center’s New England Eye Center and the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Board certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Chen is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Association for Vision and Research in Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. She has published articles in medical journals and presented research at national meetings on various topics, including the treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Chen is married to an ophthalmologist. Away from her practice, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading and spending time with her friends and family. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology with primary clinical interests in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Harris County Medical Society. He has published several articles and presented his research at various national meetings. Dr. Elchahal is married to an attorney and has two children. He enjoys outdoor activities including cycling, traveling, photography and skiing. He always welcomes the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
