Dr. Samih Elchahal, a Detroit native who grew up in Tampa, Fla., graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., with an undergraduate degree in psychology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Elchahal did an internship in surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery with the New England Eye Center at Tufts University and the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Dr. Elchahal, who has been in practice since 2006, is board certified in ophthalmology. He practices comprehensive ophthalmology with primary clinical interests in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Harris County Medical Society. He has published several articles and presented his research at various national meetings. Dr. Elchahal is married to an attorney and has two children. He enjoys outdoor activities including cycling, traveling, photography and skiing. He always welcomes the opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
