My patient care philosophy is to provide thorough, empathetic, and patient-centered care for my patients. I strive to bring all risk factors together into a thoughtful longitudinal cancer screening and early detection plan. I enjoy sitting with patients and walking them through what they gain by receiving genetic testing. What keeps me going is that I get to help reduce the risk of developing ovarian cancer or catch a breast cancer when surgery is the only treatment needed. I also believe in transparency with patients, I share the limitations of our technology, the unknowns in cancer predispositions, and the need to re-adjust the plan as we go. My research interests are to help find ways to deliver genetic services timely, and reduce the risk of cancer in the future by leveraging cancer screening, and early detection of cancer for patients and their family members wherever they are. I am also interested in better understanding how receiving genetic information influences patients’ decision-making for their health and life choices.
