Dr. Mark P. Moniz

General Surgery Dr. Moniz is a board-certified general surgeon with more than two decades of experience treating patients in Williamsburg and Richmond. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas, and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He trained as a general surgery resident at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where he was appointed Administrative Chief Resident. He has held many leadership positions throughout his medical career, including Chief of Medical Staff and surgery department chairman, and has served on multiple leadership committees. Dr. Moniz performs a range of common surgeries, and is skilled in endocrine surgeries and minimally-invasive techniques. He also offers advanced laparoscopic procedures for the treatment of disorders of the stomach, including gastric and hernia procedures, and radioguided breast biopsies. He believes in the importance of patient advocacy and strives to involve them in all aspects of treatment planning. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Dr. Moniz appreciates Virginia’s seasons, beaches, mountains and proximity to large cities. He enjoys golf, physical fitness and spending time with family in his leisure time.
