Dr. Meghan K. Urban

Meghan K. Urban, MD, is a fellowship-trained physical medicine and rehabilitation and sports medicine specialist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and in sports medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Urban treats musculoskeletal injuries and pain including acute injuries, overuse injuries, and conditions of the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. She performs ultrasound and fluoroscopic-guided procedures of joints, tendons, bursa and soft tissue. She believes in optimizing her patients’ mobility and function to keep them active and provide the best quality of life. She enjoys performing physical medicine and rehabilitation consults and helping patients with disabilities reach their goals.After earning her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Urban performed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago or RIC) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL and a sports medicine fellowship at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Northwestern University. She was selected as a chief resident and received several awards for compassionate patient care, medical education, and outstanding research.An avid educator, Dr. Urban has lectured extensively on multiple topics including corticosteroid injections, diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound, and bone stress injuries. She aided in the development of curriculum for the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Residency Program, held leadership positions in several hospital committees, and participated in multiple research studies including the implementation of a strength training program for marathon runners. Her personal sport experience includes serving as captain of her Division I soccer team at Seton Hall University, in South Orange, NJ. She has provided medical coverage for multiple Division I teams at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL including football, soccer, volleyball, wrestling, fencing, as well as mass participation events such as U.S. Parasailing Championship, the Chicago Marathon, and numerous other races.Dr. Urban has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, coauthored a book chapter and presented at numerous national medical meetings and symposia. She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
