Dr. Michael B. Mccabe

Dr. Michael McCabe is a specialty care physician board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology/hepatology. He joined Inova in 2025 and has been practicing since 2013. Before joining Inova, Dr. McCabe was a Partner at Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology, the largest gastroenterology practice in Denver, CO, where he led their advanced endoscopy program. During his tenure, he served as Medical Director, developing and implementing a system-wide advanced endoscopy program that expanded access to cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across the region. He is excited to begin the next chapter of his career at Inova and return to the East Coast to be closer to his growing family. Dr. McCabe completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia, where he later joined the clinical faculty and their highly prestigious Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship, gaining proficiency in the latest state-of-the-art endoscopic techniques. Dr. McCabe provides individualized, patient-centered care with a strong emphasis on clear and effective communication. He empowers patients by ensuring they fully understand their condition and treatment options. His clinical expertise includes general gastroenterology, mainly focused on diagnosing, staging and endoscopic management of gastrointestinal malignancies. His special interest includes pancreaticobiliary diseases. Dr. McCabe is highly trained in advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), cholangioscopy, enteral stenting, radiofrequency ablation and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR). His specialized skills allow for minimally invasive approaches to diagnosing and treating complex GI conditions, particularly those related to GI malignancies. In his free time, Dr. McCabe enjoys spending time with family, skiing, hiking and traveling.
