Dr. Michelle Rivera-Vega is a board-certified pediatrician and fellowship-trained pediatric endocrinologist with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Endocrinology and Diabetes Center. She cares for young patients with: Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes Growth, thyroid and adrenal disorders Precocious and delayed puberty Bone metabolism and disorders Dr. Rivera-Vega joined Orlando Health after serving as a pediatric endocrinologist at hospitals in San Diego and Orlando. She also developed and was co-director of a metabolic bone disease clinic for children. Dr. Rivera-Vega’s Training Dr. Rivera-Vega received her bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez and her medical training from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan, where she was chief resident in her final year. Dr. Rivera-Vega completed her fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. About Dr. Rivera-Vega Dr. Rivera-Vega has been a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics with the University of Central Florida School of Medicine in Orlando, as well as the University of California San Diego School of Medicine / Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. She developed the first multidisciplinary metabolic bone disease clinic for Rady Children's Hospital, which helped improve diagnosis and management of children with complex bone disorders. She is board certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Her professional memberships include the Pediatric Endocrine Society, Endocrine Society and American Diabetes Society. Outside of work, Dr. Rivera-Vega enjoys yoga, outdoor activities and volunteer work in underserved countries providing multidisciplinary care for children born with cleft lip and palate.
Her clinical expertise encompasses Idiopathic Short Stature (ISS), Familial Short Stature (FSS), Short Stature (Growth Disorders), and Obesity.
Dr. Rivera is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics - Endocrinology and American Board Of Pediatrics - Pediatrics. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 5 peer reviewed articles.
