
Overview
Mylai Garofalo, M.D., F.A.A.P. is a board-certified in Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Pediatrics at Nova Southeastern University; she worked full-time with Florida Community Health Center from 2013 until she opened her medical practice in August of 2023. In addition to her responsibilities, in June 2023, she became the Medical Director for the Extraordinary Kids Foundation, I.N.C. d/b/a Q.L.H. Kids, a prescribed pediatric extended care center (P.P.E.C.)
Born and raised in Cuba, she received a Doctor of Medicine from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana City, Cuba, in 1996. She worked in Cuba as a Family medicine physician and moved to the U.S.A. in 2000. Dr. Garofalo completed a Pediatric Residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine New York, Elmhurst Hospital.
She relocated to Florida in 2011, continuing to work as a Pediatrician, Clinical Administrator, and the Director of Pediatric services for F.C.H.C until July 2023.
She received the 2018 Golden Baby Shoe and Golden Title for Academic Achievement (1990-1996).
Dr. Garofalo is married to Ramon L Sanchez Romeo, a former family medicine physician from Cuba and current Registered Nurse in the U.S. She enjoys spending time with her family while away from work. Dr. Garofalo takes care of her elderly parents and enjoys frequent visits from her son and daughter-in-law, who have a young child.
She exemplifies compassion and treats patients with kindness and care as if they were her child. She loves her profession so much that sometimes she forgets that she is working! She prays to God to continue having that blessing.
