"Neera Gupta, MD, MAS, is a physician-scientist, specializing in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease and growth impairment in chronic inflammatory conditions. She is the founder and director of the Children’s National Hospital Growth Program for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. She is the director of research for the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She is the principal investigator for the prospective multicenter longitudinal cohort study, “Sex Differences in Statural Growth Impairment in Pediatric Crohn’s Disease” Part 1 and Part 2, also known as ""The Growth Study” Part 1 and Part 2. Dr. Gupta is the founder and director of the nationally and internationally recognized scientific meeting, The Pediatric IBD Research Days (PIBDRD) Meeting. Dr. Gupta has received funding to support her research program from a variety of sources, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Dr. Gupta has received numerous honors and awards, such as nomination and selection as the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Take Steps “Healthcare Honored Hero” and recognition as part of the inaugural Healio Gastroenterology 200, a list of gastroenterology and hepatology professionals identified as leading innovators. Dr. Gupta is a 2024 recipient of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Litwin IBD Pioneers Award. Dr. Gupta is committed to teaching the next generation of physicians and physician-scientists. Dr. Gupta serves on the Data and Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) for the Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC) Consortium, established by The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and National Cancer Institute (NCI). Dr. Gupta has also served in numerous national leadership roles such as chair for the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Institute Council Pediatric Gastroenterology & Developmental Biology Section, chair for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) Research Committee and co-chair for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Pediatric Affairs Committee. She served on the Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) Council, representing gastroenterology/nutrition.".
