
Overview
Ning Cao, M.D., is a rehabilitation physician specializing in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation. She has training and expertise using nerve block and botulinum toxin injections for spasticity management and robotic-assisted technology to help patients recover and regain independence after brain injury and other neurologic conditions. In addition, she is a musculoskeletal sonographer and performs acupuncture for stroke recovery and pain management. Dr. Cao obtained her medical degree from the Hebei Medical University in China. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Albert Einstein Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. She has held her academic appointment as clinical associate professor in rehabilitation medicine at Thomas Jefferson University since 2020. Dr. Cao’s research focuses on improving quality of care and outcomes for patients who experience stroke. She led several research projects, including investigation of the feasibility and efficacy of robotic-assisted gait training in inpatient rehabilitation setting and effectiveness of early rehabilitation program for COVID patients. Dr. Cao has co-authored numerous research papers and presented her findings at national and international rehabilitation conferences. Dr. Cao has served as a mentor and an educator helping train many medical students, residents and fellows across several programs.
