Peter Ferrazzano, MD, is a UW Health Kids pediatric critical care physician. He’s also a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.Dr. Ferrazzano cares for children in the intensive care unit (ICU) recovering from serious illnesses, injuries or major surgeries. He specializes in treating young patients with severe brain and spinal cord injuries.Dr. Ferrazzano recognizes that he meets patients and their families during challenging times. He provides family-centered support focused on trust and communication. As a partner to patients and their loved ones, he helps them make decisions about their health. Dr. Ferrazzano admires the strength of his young patients. He feels honored to be a part of their healing journey.In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ferrazzano studies pediatric brain injuries using MRI scans. Through his research, he hopes to find better ways to improve brain function after serious injuries.Outside of work, Dr. Ferrazzano enjoys traveling, biking through the countryside in Wisconsin and spending time with his family.It’s an incredible privilege to care for kids with critical illnesses.
