Dr. Poonam Maru is a primary care physician board certified in internal medicine. She joined Inova in 2025 and has been practicing since 2011.Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Maru practiced at a tech‐based primary care startup focused on delivering a personalized approach to prevention, treatment and longevity. Earlier in her career, she served as director of the Resident Continuity Clinic and was a founding core faculty member of a new internal medicine residency program.Dr. Maru is passionate about primary care, preventive medicine, nutrition and climate health – helping patients live healthier, longer lives in ways that are sustainable and personalized.Originally from New York, Dr. Maru now calls Northern Virginia home. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, traveling and reading.
