"Philosophy of care | I want to get to know you, first as a person, not as a patient. I want to know what kind of work you do, what sports you play, and what hobbies/extracurricular activities you enjoy. I will then take your medical history, my physical exam, and diagnostic studies to come up with a diagnosis. I will teach you about your problem and the most up-to-date treatment options, including what tends to work (and not work). I will help you improve and reach an outcome you are pleased with through mutual decision-making, making sure to exhaust all non-operative measures. As partners, we weigh the risks and benefits of various options and choose a plan we are both happy with. If the answer is surgery, I will help you through the process and be with you every step of the way on your recovery. I treat all patients like family, but also use the scientific orthopedic literature to help guide the decision-making process. | Why I entered medicine | I grew up in Florida and my father was an ophthalmologist (and original Tampa Bay Rays eye doctor). With my mother being a nurse, I was always exposed to medicine. I saw my parents helping people and was inspired to pursue medicine as a career. That, plus my love for sports, sciences, biomechanics and anatomy, led me toward orthopedics. It's very rewarding to help people get their function, motion and quality of life back. As a collegiate baseball player, I was drawn to the anatomy, biomechanics, and function of the upper extremity, and how to rehab and treat the common injuries. As the team hand surgeon for many local high schools, colleges and professional teams, I understand what it takes to get you ""back on the field."" | Community involvement | I have worked with local high school students interested in health care and led them through several upper extremity cadaver dissections. I am also the team hand surgeon for many local high schools, Lehigh University, Kutztown University and Muhlenberg College to name a few. I am the hand surgeon for the American Hockey League - Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In my spare time, I coach Little League baseball in the South Parkland Youth Association. | Personal interests | Professionally, I enjoy teaching our next generation of physicians: high school students, medical students and plastic surgery residents, in the office and the OR. | Personally, I enjoy traveling, the beach, all four seasons the Lehigh Valley has to offer, and spending time with my wife and four children. I am often a part-time chauffeur for my kids' activities, as well as a Little League baseball coach. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list. Philosophy of care | The patient always comes first. My goal is to treat a patient's arthritic hip or knee pain and return them to doing the activities that they enjoy as soon as possible. At times surgery is necessary. But if I can treat the patient without surgery and alleviate their pain, then that is a win for the patient and that makes it a win for me. | Why I entered medicine | I have always enjoyed the sciences. My father is a dentist, and I always enjoyed watching him care for patients. As long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a physician. My job is exciting and never boring. Forming long lasting bonds with patients makes my job one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. | Community involvement | I am involved in multiple charities including police and fire associations, cancer societies and education programs. I also do community outreach projects and make multiple radio show appearances to educate the community on health issues. | Personal interests | First and foremost, I spend time with my wife and our two children. I also enjoy tennis, golf and fitness. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list. Philosophy of care | I try to provide compassionate and patient-centered care. I treat you and every patient as if you are a family member. | Why I entered medicine | In school I had a scientific curiosity and especially liked biology, physiology and physics. But, like many orthopedic surgeons, I got into the profession through sports – playing high school football. Also, a good friend’s father was an orthopedic surgeon, and his work sounded mentally and physically challenging as well as rewarding. I’ve built a career on the intricacies of the hand and am gratified to help patients return to work and recreation after their injuries. | Personal interests | I enjoy the outdoors, snowboarding, going to the gym and sharing a great Italian meal and bottle of wine with my wife. I also enjoy long bicycle rides through the park with my two daughters. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list. Philosophy of care | My mindset is to listen to you and understand why you are here for an appointment. I want to know not just what may be wrong, but about you, and what are your long-term and short-term goals. I will do my best to help you achieve those goals with the skills and experience I have been gifted. | Why I entered medicine | Growing up in the coal regions of Pennsylvania, my parents – dad was a Pennsylvania State Police trooper and my mom worked in a local cafeteria – I saw the respect and admiration they had for our town physicians. I wanted to study hard and become a physician to help people – people like my parents – and earn that respect in a vocation that would never feel like a job, but a calling. I knew as a doctor that I could serve folks for as long as I am capable. | Community involvement | My entire professional life has been inextricably integrated into community service as a Level 1 trauma surgeon, a team physician for many regional high schools, colleges and professional teams (Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Philadelphia Eagles training camp). I also have been a leader in organizing opioid crisis town halls and fundraisers, have been an invited health fair speaker, co-developed Medical Fitness in the Lehigh Valley, developed Integrated Health Campus, and am an invited member of several regional boards of directors. | Personal interests | I have many varied interests including as a competitive swimmer in U.S. Masters Swimming, cycling, woodworking, custom framing, nutrition and CBD research. I also host a cable television health show that addresses health and medical issues. | Image | Lehigh Valley Hospital is ranked 25th in the country for orthopedic care on the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list.
