Rachna Kapoor

Overview

Dr. Rachna Kapoor is a pediatric hospitalist at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children. She has extensive experience in acute care and rehabilitative hospital settings, previously in Pittsburgh, Baltimore and now Wilmington, Delaware. One of the aspects I like the most in working with children is the idea that what we do now can positively affect them later. I like to think that and hope that what I help them with now, even in a small way, can potentially make a lasting impact long into their adult years. It’s fun to work with kids. I especially like to help the kids and their families be more comfortable with their conditions and what needs to be done to address them. Sometimes a child can’t fully express what’s wrong or how they feel and I like to work with them and talk about it so I can figure it out for them. I also enjoy being an advocate for kids and their families who might not have a strong voice in getting all the care they need. I’m passionate about providing good quality patient care, especially inpatient care for children admitted to the hospital. I’m passionate about looking for ways in which we can improve various parts of the care and keep care efficient as well.  My medical interests include all general pediatric hospital conditions, especially feeding disorders and feeding difficulties in children. One of the ways I try to make a difference is by helping train the next generation of physicians. I love teaching medical students and residents about hospital medicine. I was fortunate to have good teachers and mentors myself over the years, and I want to pass that on as much as I can. I try and make the hospital stay for a child as comfortable as possible and be as supportive as I can.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Achalasia Microcephaly Syndrome, Cerebral Hypoxia, Malnutrition, and Hypochondroplasia.

Dr. Kapoor is board certified in American Board Of Pediatrics. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 51 peer reviewed articles.
