Dr. Robert Burnham is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint and general orthopedics, including caring for various ailments of the hip and knee in adults. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Burnham treats a myriad of conditions, including but not limited to hip and knee arthritis, failed hip and knee replacements (re-do or revision surgery), lower extremity fractures (hip, femur, knee, tibia, ankle). He has extensive training in several surgical procedures, including total and partial knee replacements, and anterior approach hip replacements. In addition, he is well-trained with robotic assisted joint replacement.
For his total knee replacement surgery, he utilizes a muscle sparing approach, which does not involve any cutting of muscles, tendons, or ligaments. For his total hip replacement surgery, he uses an anterior (front of hip) based approach, which is also a muscle sparing approach.
