
Overview
Dr. Ryan Closson is a specialty care physician board certified in pediatric at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2016. After attending Cornell University for his undergraduate degree, he worked for several years in the culinary and engineering fields. He then went back to complete a post-baccalaureate program before attending Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, NY. After this, Dr. Closson completed his pediatric residency at New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center before finishing his pediatric cardiology fellowship at New York Presbyterian, Columbia Medical Center, both in New York City. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Closson worked as a pediatric cardiology chief education officer at both Columbia University and Cornell University during his fellowship. In this role, he designed a series of interactive education modules for residents and medical students rotating through the elective. In addition, he performed research investigating outcomes in the single ventricle population. Dr. Closson is interested in all aspects of pediatric cardiology in all pediatric age groups, with a focus in noninvasive imaging and preventive cardiology. He has also cultivated a strong interest in exercise physiology and testing. Outside the office, Dr. Closson enjoys cooking, jogging, and spending time with his wife and two children.
