Overview
Samantha Shenoy is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients participating in clinical trials to evaluate promising new treatment approaches to blood cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. She primarily sees patients receiving immunotherapy, such as CAR T-cell therapy, bispecific antibody therapy and other experimental treatments. She also sees patients receiving immunotherapy in novel combinations with other types of treatments like chemotherapy. Striving to be fully present and empathetic, she follows each patient throughout their clinical trial journey, providing symptom management, education and emotional support. She also performs therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. Knowing that cancer treatment induces stress and vulnerability, she seeks to ease the burden through compassionate, prompt, proactive and holistic care. Shenoy earned her master's degree in nursing from UCSF, where she specialized in acute care. She is also certified in interprofessional education on palliative care. Shenoy has given many educational presentations related to cancer treatment, particularly immunotherapy. She received the DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses and was a nominee for two UCSF honors, the Advanced Practice Provider Excellence Award and the Jeanne Yalon Award in oncology nursing adult services.
