He also has served as a principal investigator, co-investigator and faculty sponsor for clinical trials, registries and research projects focused on clinical topics such as venous thromboembolism, pneumonia, diabetes, heart failure and COVID-19.He earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He completed his internship, residency in internal medicine at the UCI School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident. He also earned a master's of business in healthcare at the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business.Amin's research focus includes hospital medicine, anticoagulation, quality of care and patient outcomes. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in major medical journals. He serves as co-editor/co-author of Core Competencies in Hospital Medicine, which is published by the Society of Hospital Medicine, and co-editor of Contemporary Hospitalists’ Guide to Anticoagulation. He is the recipient of numerous federally funded, industry-sponsored and foundation awards focused on quality of care, medical education and outcomes research.
