
Overview
Dr. Michelle Scerbo earned her undergraduate degree in neurobiology at The University of Texas at Austin, followed by a master’s in health informatics and a medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). In addition to completing an internship and residency in general surgery, she completed a fellowship in minimally invasive, robotic and bariatric surgery at McGovern Medical School. Dr. Scerbo, who is board certified in surgery, has been in practice since 2012. Her clinical interests include bariatric surgery, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), foregut surgery, gallbladder surgery, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, gastrointestinal surgery, gastrointestinal endoscopy, abdominal hernia surgery, achalasia, acid reflux disease, anti-reflux surgery, laparoscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, obesity and robotic-assisted surgery. She treats patients age 18 and older. The basis of Dr. Scerbo’s patient-centered practice is shared decision-making between surgeon and patient. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and then served in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer for six years. After three decorated tours of service, he found his home in Houston where he earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2003. He stayed at the university to complete his surgical residency training in 2008 and then completed advanced training with a fellowship of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Wilson joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2009 where he practices surgery that embraces state of the art techniques to proved patients with optimal surgical results with the least impact on the patient. At the medical school, he serves as the Medical Director of Surgical Training and part of the Elective General Surgery team. He is active academically with membership in several medical societies and has received academic recognition and published or presented articles.
