Dr. Tarita Thomas

Tarita Thomas, MD, PhD, a UW Health radiation oncologist. She specializes in radiation therapy and is committed to providing advanced, patient-centered care for individuals facing cancer and other conditions.Dr. Thomas treats all types of cancer and has expertise in advanced techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), MR-guided adaptive radiation therapy and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. In addition to cancer care, she uses radiation therapy to help manage functional and inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, plantar fasciitis, keloids and bursitis. Her clinical interests include lung, breast, and prostate cancers, as well as the use of low-dose radiation for osteoarthritis. She is also active in health policy and advocacy to improve oncology care.Dr. Thomas believes in treating each patient as an individual, understanding their disease within the context of their life and relationships. She values clear communication and works to ensure that patients feel supported and informed throughout their care. Her goal is to translate the science of medicine into meaningful improvements in quality of life.Outside of work, Dr. Thomas enjoys exercising and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
