Overview
What brings a Virginia girl to North Carolina? Her dream job! After spending multiple clinical rotations with oncology patients, I knew that I wanted to be an oncology provider for the rest of my life. I moved to North Carolina and started my nursing career at Duke on the inpatient hematologic malignancy unit 9100. After five years of working as a nurse in 9100, I decided to pursue my graduate degree (MSN, FNP). I now act as a nurse practitioner within the Division of Hematologic Malignancy and Cell Therapy where I work with patients who have multiple myeloma. I act as a front-line provider caring for patients undergoing active treatment with chemotherapy or immunotherapy both on and off research clinical trial. I believe that open communication and working together with my patients and their loved ones as a team creates better health outcomes.
