Gonzalo J. Revuelta, DO, MSc, FANA, is associate professor of neurology and medical director of the deep brain stimulation program at MUSC. He earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey -- School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in neurology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. After residency, he completed fellowship training in movement disorders and deep brain stimulation at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He is a member of the International Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society, the American Neurological Association, the Parkinson Study Group, the Huntington Study Group and the Dystonia Coalition. He is also an elected fellow of the American Neurological Association. Dr. Revuelta's NIH funded research program focuses on the understanding of the pathophysiology freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease and essential tremor, and the development of clinical trials for these conditions using neuromodulation therapies. He is involved in the treatment of patients with all types of movement disorders including Parkinson's disease, dystonia, Huntington's disease, Tourette's syndrome, tremors and ataxias.
