Overview

Dr. Tyler Elam is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and a Fellow of theAmerican Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP) with additional training in medicalacupuncture. He specializes in providing comprehensive primary care, osteopathicmanipulative technique (OMT), and medical acupuncture, focusing on conditions such aschronic Hepatitis C, and performing joint injections and skin lesion cryotherapy andbiopsies.Dr. Elam graduated from the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of OsteopathicMedicine in 2014, and completed his family medicine residency program at East TennesseeState University in Bristol, TN, where he served as Chief Resident from 2016-2017. Hevalues building lasting relationships with his patients, walking through vulnerable lifemoments with them, celebrating victories, and offering support during difficult times. Hisphilosophy regarding patient care centers on the belief that a patient is a cohesive unit ofmind, body, and spirit, and he strives to address all three components to bring healing andhealth, placing high value on wellness and health maintenance while being conservativewith medication utilization.Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Elam holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). He is affiliated with theAssociation of Family Medicine Residency Directors, the Society for Teachers of FamilyMedicine, and the American Academy for Physician Leadership. Dr. Elam also completedmedical acupuncture training through Helms Medical Institute in 2019 and is a fellow of theNational Institute for Program Director Development (2024-2025). Outside of work, Dr. Elamenjoys being an AFOL (adult fan of LEGO), running and triathlon training, reading (LOTR,C.S. Lewis, the Star Wars universe), Christian Spiritual Formation, his church community,medical education, theatre productions, playing piano and harmonica, and most importantly,spending time with his wife and four kids, as they work to visit as many National Parks aspossible.
