Overview
Dr. Patel is a board certified internist and partner of the 70+ physician multi-specialty Murfreesboro Medical Clinic where he served as its president and on the Board of Directors. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee for his undergraduate and medical degrees, as well as, residency in Internal Medicine. Additionally Dr. Patel had been chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine for many years and is the medical director and co-founder of the Diabetes Care and Anti-Coagulation Clinic at MMC, areas in which he has significant interest and expertise. Dr. Patel is an extremely active member of many civic activities and professional organizations including the Physician Excellence Committee of St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital , Blue Raider Athletic Association and currently serves on the board of Murfreesboro Medical Properties and Stones River Regional Independent Physician Organization. His personal interests include landscape gardening, travel, basketball, tennis, and reading.
As a team physician for over 13 years with Middle Tennessee State University, Dr. Patel was instrumental in developing the athletic department’s concussion protocol and management policies. He has been overseeing its ImPACT testing and treatment programs since its use there and also enjoys working with the athletic trainers and athletes at Sewanee: The University of the South as well as many local middle and high schools.
